Your Word is Your Bond

In light of the recent events with the leaked Young Thug jail calls, it appears as if you cannot trust anything the rappers of this era say anymore. In interviews, on record together and when in each other’s presence, they pretend like they are buddy-buddy and closer than close. However, when the cameras are off and Protools stops recording, these guys secretly hate one another. Once one of them gets caught, Thug in this instance, they’ll start copping pleas faster than their Lambo can hit 0-60.

Where’s the integrity, the respect that when you say something you actually mean it? Another example in recent memory where someone flipped flopped right in front of our eyes is none other than Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., aka Snoop Dogg. Soon after a clip emerged of Snoop questioning same sex marriage in a cartoon movie he watched with his grandson, it was revealed that he is now partnered with GLAAD to produce a song for his cartoon series on YouTube. So, Snoop really thinks he’s answering the questions his grandson posed to him with this song? Probably not.

And last but not least, Lord Jamar, the alleged G.O.D.. After apparently standing on business and distancing himself from DJ Vlad after he made some unsubstantiated comments about Louis Farrakhan, Jamar made his return to the popular VladTV platform. Him changing his mind to go back on Vlad is his option, however, for him to side with Vlad and go at Godfrey was questionable. Because whatever happened behind the scenes with Jamar and Godfrey, clicking up with Vlad to publicize it showed he has no loyalty.

The lesson here is everyone has the free will to change their minds, however, when you’re a public figure on public platforms, it’s not easy to back off the things you say and do. The people that watch you are going to remember what you said and when you backtrack they’re going to believe you did it for the money. Also, in everyday life with social media, the cloud, messenger, etc., the people you deal with on a daily basis are going to hold you accountable for the things you say and do. So, be careful!
